Name:          Arts and Crafts Year-Round

Purpose:      To collect and create items to secure funds which are sent to the Loft Carey Baptist Foreign Convention for foreign missions. Members of this Convention are urged to donate crafts for this purpose.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, interested organizations for the Arts and Crafts Year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:          Central Children’s Home Year-Round#1

Purpose:      To help support our children at the home in Oxford, North Carolina, through contributions to the maintenance fund of the institution and scholarships for deserving students.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the Central Children’s Home #1 Year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Sessions, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.

Name:          Cora Pair Thomas Year-Round

Purpose:      To aid our school in Brewerville, Liberia, and foreign students; educate deserving young people in North Carolina to serve on the foreign field (when available); thus, we keep alive the work of the late Corn Pair Thomas, a North Carolinian, who labored as a nurse and teacher in Liberia for more than 35 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the Cora Pair Thomas Year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry


Name:              Deacons’ Wives Fellowship

Purpose:      To give aid to the maintenance and development of the J. J. Johnson Baptist Assembly.

Responsibilities:

  • Enlist deacons’ wives who are members or affiliated with the Woman’s Convention.
  • Send a letter from the Chairperson and/or Co-Chairperson to the office by March 31, unless otherwise notified. This letter will be sent to members and other persons whom you suggest. Send with the letter the addresses of persons to be contacted to share in giving.
  • Support the program/ministry of the Woman’s Convention.
  • Plan a program for sharing during the Annual Session.
  • Meet at least once during the year (e.g., before or after One-Day Session or State­wide Leaders’ Workshop).
  • Function at the pleasure of the Woman’s Convention and according to its direction.


Name:          Foreign Missions Year-Round

Purpose:      To support the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission objectives in its mission stations, salaries, hospitals, clinics, missionaries, and other projects deemed necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure finds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the Foreign Missions Year-Round Committee
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:          Health and Human Services Year-Round

Purpose:      To aid in supplying First Aid supplies for the Woman’s Convention and the Minnie C. Lyon Infirmary. To encourage effective usage of community health resources to promote healthy lifestyles.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish an extended committee to include nurses in Baptist churches in our state. Secure a Master List that includes names, addresses, telephone numbers,
  • Develop and implement an Annual Plan of Service. Submit to the Executive Secretary-Treasurer by September 15.
  • Establish specific goals and objectives.
  • Develop Health and Human brochures.
  • Provide presentations at all state meetings, when programmed. Plan topics to be included at each.
  • Assign a “nurse on duty” for each state-wide meeting, inclusive of Youth Bible Camp (3 weeks) and Leadership Training Conference.
  • Plan and implement a mini Health Fair for the Annual Session in July. Submit specific plans, needs by May 15 to the Executive Secretary-Treasurer.
  • Secure resource health materials to be distributed at state meetings. (Complement designated topics, etc.) Secure materials ahead of time for our office to include in registration packet.
  • Establish two annual meeting dates. (Other meetings may be held.)
  • Recommend to the Executive Secretary-Treasurer supplies for the Convention and Minnie C. Lyons Infirmary, J. J. Johnson Baptist Assembly.
  • Prepare and send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the publics for contributions. Please include names and address.
  • Submit to the Convention a written Annual Report in July.

 


Name:            India Leper Colony Year-Round

Purpose:         To give support through the Loft Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention for repairs on the Leper Clinic in Karnal, India, and sends financial aid for those in India who are suffering and dying from the dreaded disease, leprosy.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure finds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the India Leper Colony Year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:            J. J. Johnson Baptist Assembly Year-Round

Purpose:        To solicit and give aid in promoting and maintaining J. J. Johnson Baptist Assembly where Youth Bible Camp, retreats, workshops, mission study classes, and training conferences are held.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the J. J.  Johnson Baptist Assembly Year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:          Ministers’ Wives and Widows Fellowship

Purpose:      To make annual contribution to the Shaw Divinity School for scholarship.

Responsibilities:

  • Enlist ministers’ wives and widows who are members or affiliated with the Woman’s Convention or GBSC.
  • Send a letter from the Chairperson and/or Co-Chairperson to the office by March 31, unless otherwise notified. This letter will be sent to members and other persons whom you suggest. Send with the letter the addresses of persons to be contacted to share in giving.
  • Attend the Retreat.
  • Attend the Luncheon.
  • Give funds for Shaw Divinity School.
  • Support the program/ministry of the Woman’s Convention.
  • Plan a program for sharing during the Annual Session.
  • Function at the pleasure of the Woman’s Convention and according to its direction.
  • See handbook for further directions.


Name:          The Missionary Helper Year-Round

Purpose:      To solicit new subscriptions through the year as a means of improving the technique of meaningful devotions and to promote the art of effective worship through topics for discussions in missionary circles and groups throughout the State.

Responsibilities:

  • Encourage the reading of the The Missionary Helper.
  • Secure new subscriptions and send to the Executive Office periodically.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session.


Name:          Self-Denial Year-Round

Purpose:      To encourage each member to contribute annually a minimum of five dollars ($5.00) to be reported during the Annual Session as individuals, circles, auxiliaries and unions for supplementing a needed objective(s) fund.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the Self-Denial year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at The Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:          Shaw Divinity Year-Round

Purpose:      To give financial contributions to the Divinity School for operational expense and scholarships.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include names and addresses.
  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the Shaw Divinity School.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come front the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:          Shaw University #1 Year-Round

Purpose:      To aid our religious school of higher education in its operational expense and student needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Send a letter to the office by March 31 to be sent to the different publics. Please include a list of names and addresses.
  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the Shaw University #1 Year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:          Shaw University #2 Year-Round

  • Secure funds from individuals, churches, and interested organizations for the State Missions #1 Year-Round Committee.
  • Send a written report of contributions to the Executive Office.
  • Attend all conventional sessions.
  • Be prepared to serve at the Annual Session, when notified.
  • Make a written annual report at the Annual Session. Some of this information for this report will come from the Executive Office.
  • Promote enthusiastically and incessantly, on the field, its ministry.


Name:          State Missions #2 Year-Round

Purpose:      To support the internal and external expenses of the Woman’s Convention including salaries, operational expenses, publications, and conventional ministries.
